A good exterior paint job is one of those things that works harder than it looks. Sure, it makes your home look sharp - but the real value is in what it's doing behind the scenes. Quality exterior paint acts as a barrier against moisture, UV rays, and general wear. Skip it long enough and you're not just dealing with a dull-looking house. You're dealing with cracked siding, wood rot, and repair bills that dwarf what a paint job would have cost.

Here's what we were working with on this one - a two-story craftsman-style home with lap siding, a covered front porch, stone accents, and a detached garage. A lot of surface area. A lot of edges and trim details to get right. This isn't a job where you can just roll paint on the main field and call it a day. The window trim, corner boards, porch railings, fascia - all of it needs clean, deliberate work.

We went with a cool slate gray on the body, a deeper charcoal on the lower sections, and crisp white on all the trim. The contrast is what makes the whole thing pop. That kind of color coordination takes some planning - you want tones that complement each other without fighting for attention. Get it right and the home looks intentional. Get it wrong and even a fresh coat can look off.

Every exterior we do gets treated the same way - front, back, sides, and all the stuff people don't think about until they're standing right next to it. The back of the house and the garage get the same attention as the front. That consistency matters. Paint that's properly applied and properly prepped is going to hold up a lot longer than a rushed job, regardless of what brand is in the bucket.

We treat every home like it's our own - and that means we're not cutting corners to wrap up faster. If the prep work needs more time, it gets more time. That's just how good exterior painting gets done.
